Chandpur market fire burns down 24 shops

CHANDPUR, July 17 (UNB): At least 24 shops were gutted by a fire that broke out at a market in Faridganj upazila early Wednesday.
Fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a cloth shop named Babul Cloth Store at Kalir Bazar at around 2.30 am and it spread rapidly around engulfing 23 other adjacent shops.
On information, a firefighting unit from Chandpur town rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts.
At least 10 people received burn injuries while extinguishing the blaze.
