Child drowns in Dinajpur pond

DINAJPUR, Oct 21 (UNB): A five-year-old child drowned in a pond at Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Raiyan Islam Rasim, son of Khademul Islam of Krishnanagar Munshipara under the upazila.
Nur Alam Babu, sub-inspector of Chirirbandar Police Station, quoting relatives of the child, said Rasim suddenly fell into a pond when his maternal uncle was catching fish in the waterbody in the morning.
Though the uncle did not know of Rasim falling into the pond, after a while he spotted his body in the pond, he said.
The child was rushed to Chirirbandar Health Complex where physicians declared him dead, the SI said.
