Chuadanga farmers happy over garlic production

CHUADANGA, Apr 16: Farmers of Chuadanga district are happy over a bumper production of garlic due to favourable weather condition.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 400 hectares of land have been brought under garlic cultivation in four upazilas in this season.

Of them 65 hectares of land have been fixed in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, 150 hectares in Alamdanga Upazila, 50 hectares in Damurhuda Upazila and 135 hectares in Jibannagar Upazila.

The farmers are already selling garlic in the local market. Garlic is being sold at Tk 50 to Tk 55 per kg against Tk 35 to Tk 40 per kg in the previous year which encouraged the farmers to produce more garlic.
