Clinker-laden vessel sinks in Rupsha

KHULNA, Nov 8: A cargo vessel MV Safina-E-Makka loaded with 880 tonnes clinkers sank in Rupsha river early Friday.
Master of the cargo vessel Nannu Mia said that the vessel loaded with clinker from a mother vessel at Mongla and left for Sun Sung Cement factory, Khulna. While it reached near Rupsha bridge the vessel hit a pillar of the bridge and got cracked at the bottom. For this the cargo ship sunk in the river.
The nine crew of the vessel managed to swim ashore. The authority is trying to salvage the vessel.
