C'nawabganj, Jashore road accidents kill two bikers

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Chapainawabganj and Jashore districts on Sunday, report agencies.

In Jashore, a 32-year-old biker was killed and a pillion rider was injured as the motorcycle carrying them lost control and rammed the railing of a bridge on Kalagachi road in Jashore's Keshabpur upazila on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nurunnabi, son of Azizur Rahman of Kuada Kamalpur village in Jessore Sadar upazila.

Injured Bijoy Roy ,32, son of Kartik Roy of the same village, is now receiving treatment at the hospital.

Bijoy Roy said he and his friend Nurunnabi came to see Durga puja celebration at different puja mandaps in Keshabpur. While returning after visiting the puja mandaps throughout the day, Nurunnabi lost control over the bike and hit the railing of the bridge. "Nurunnabi died on the sport," he added.

Locals rescued Bijoy Roy and took him to the Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Keshabpur Police Station Mofizur Rahman confirmed the death.

In Chapainawabganj, a motorcyclist was killed as a speedy truck hit him from behind at Shantimore area in Chapainawabganj town on Sunday evening.

The deceased was identified as Shamsuzzaman, 55, son of late Ekramul Hoque of Chowhodditola under Chapainawabganj municipality.

Police detained the truck and arrested its driver Md. Abdur Rahim, son of Md. Chutu Ali of Rasulpur village under Shibganj upazila of the district.

OC of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model thana Md Sajjad Hossain and local sources said, as Shamsuzzaman was going to Shibtala by a motorcycle along the Chapainawabganj-Sonamas-jid highway, a speedy truck hit him from behind at Shantimore area leaving Shamsuzzaman dead on the spot at around 6-30 pm.
