Cold injury badly affects Boro seedlings in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Dec 22: Boro paddy seedlings of the region remained in danger as cold wave is sweeping over the region for weeks together. Dense fog blanketed the entire district for days that created alarm among the farmers.

While contacted one DAE official said they advised the farmers for early morning removal of dew by rope or stick and flood irrigation in the evening and drain out in the morning for Boro seedlings during the sweeping cold. Sources said there are as many as 3663 hectares of Boro seedbeds in the district which is being affected by cold injury.

Abdus Salam one Boro farmer of Bhogdaburi UP of Domar upazila said he has Boro seedlings in 25 decimal of land affected by cold injury and he is following the advice of UP based block supervisor of Department of Agricultural Extension.
