Comilla land dispute leaves one dead

COMILLA, Oct 05 (UNB): A man was reportedly killed by his paternal uncle over a land-related dispute at Balighar village in Muradnagar upazila on Tuesday morning.

Police said Kawsar, 53, son of late Daru Mia, a resident of Bolighar village of the upazila, had been in a longstanding dispute with his paternal uncle Rukku Miah over the ownership of a piece of land.

At a sequel of the dispute, Kawsar locked in an altercation with his uncle Rukku in the morning.

At one stage, Rukku hit Kawsar with a crowbar, leaving him injured severely, said officer-in-charge of Bangarabazar Police Station Manwar Hossain.

Locals rescued Kawsar and took him to Comilla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the afternoon.

Later, victim's mother filed a case, said the OC adding police arrested Rukku Miah and his wife in this connection.
