RANGPUR, July 16 (BSS): Speakers at an orientation workshop have said the community clinics have been playing vital role in providing health services effectively to rural people, ensuring safe pregnancy, maternity to prevent maternal and neonatal deaths.
Eco Social Development Organisation (ESDO) organised the workshop with assistance of Water Aid Bangladesh for the community clinic staffs at Boda Pilot Girls' School and College under Boda upazila in Panchagarh on Monday.
Civil Surgeon of Panchagarh Dr Ahad Ali attended the workshop as the chief guest with Programme Coordinator of ESDO Biswajeet Roy in the chair.
Boda Upazila Heath and Family Planning Officer Dr Siddikur Rahman, Programme Officer of Water Aid Bangladesh for Bangladesh Wazed Uddin and Sector Coordinator of ESDO Prabir Gupta Buwa attended the workshop as special guests.
Members of the community clinic managing committees, Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs), volunteers, health service providers, public representatives, pregnant women and mothers and local elite, participated.
The speakers discussed the government's community clinic vision for ensuring health services to rural people including mothers, pregnant women, babies and children and responsibility of the community clinic managing committees, CHCPs and others.
They narrated success already achieved in providing health services by the community clinics to rural people and described responsibilities of the community clinic managing committee members, CHCPs and their proper coordination towards the directions.
They said about 80 to 100 rural people of all ages have been getting health and medicare services on an average daily from different community clinics in the upazila and called upon the common rural people to avail the health service there.
They disseminated knowledge on importance of ensuring essential health services for common people, safe pregnancy and safer maternity and safe delivery at community clinics with better maternal and neonatal health services.
The chief guest stressed for ensuring essential health services to rural people and balanced diets for pregnant women, lactating mothers, babies, breastfeeding for six months and providing more vegetables to pregnant women for balanced nutrition.
