Compost fertilisers gaining popularity in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Apr 23 (BSS): Compost fertilisers are gaining popularity in the district.

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office source said compost fertilisers are comparatively cheap and it can be produced at home easily with the help of local technology.

A number of cultivators who are using compost fertilisers in their land said that making compost fertilisers is easy and its raw materials are available around them.

M Habibur Rahman a farmer of Vatara village of Putail union under Sadar upazila, said he has cultivated Boro on five bighas of land during the current season only using compost fertilisers and he is expecting a remarkable production.

Many farmers have been using compost fertilizers in their lands and producing rice, jute, potato, mustard and vegetable, a DAE official said.

DAE is motivating the farmers to use compost fertilizers and giving training them to produce and use of the fertilisers.
