Concerted efforts for TB-free society urged

NARSINGDI, Nov 11 (BSS): Speakers at a round table conference on Monday underscored the need for concerted effort to create mass awareness for building a tuberculosis free society.

They said TB is no more a killer disease as early detection, proper and timely diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures are found effective in fighting the disease.

Civil Surgeon office Narsingdi and BRAC jointly organized the round table on "Controlling of Tuberculosis programme and its Advancement and Challenges" at Narsingdi Press club.

Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Abu Hana Morshed Zaman addressed the conference as chief guest while civil Surgeon Patul Roy presided over the conference.

District representative of BRAC Prabal Shaha delivered the welcome speech while Manager BRAC Advocacy Sarwar Jahan presented the key-note papers on the controlling of Tuberculosis.

Morshed Zaman saidTB is a deadly disease and it is fully cured if the affected patients take proper treatment. He said the government is determined to achieve success in TB control through implementing the Directly Observed Treatment Strategy (DOTS).
