GOPALGANJ, Feb 19: The construction work on the multi-storey combined government office building in Gopalganj is nearing completion.
Official sources said some 85 per cent work on the office building, which is being implemented at a cost of about Tk 1.11 billion (111 crore), has already been completed.
According to the Public Works Department (PWD), Gopalganj official sources said they took possession at Karargati under Sadar Upazila in Gopalganj on three acres of land in 2018-2019.
Then GKB & Company Private Limited & Mahabub Brothers (Pvt.) Ltd took the responsibility for construction of the project work under the supervision of the PWD Gopalganj.
The companies started the project work on February 28, 2019. But, the authorities extended the schedule time for the implementation of the work.
Main Bhaban, internal & external electrification, internal & external sanitary water supply arrangement, pump house, drain, retaining wall with boundary wall, RCC internal road, air cooler, digital conference system, CV TV, grid solar panel, fire hydrate & fire detection system, surge protection device (SPD), furniture & left supply, site development, networking, LAN with etc. were included in the work.
Kamrul Hasan, executive engineer at the PWD in Gopalganj, told the FE that the project work is going on to finish by the deadline. About 85 per cent work of the project already been completed.
He said I think after completion of the work, a large section of people in the district will get huge benefits.
Md Bahadur Ali, superintendant engineer (SE in Gopalganj PWD circle, told the FE that it may start functioning on June 30 this year and I think the work will finish before the date.
Sheikh Mahbub Ali, project contractor at the work, said, "I will finish the work earlier on June 30, 2024 because I appointed expert manpower with machineries apparatus for using on the work and concerned authorities always collaborate on the work."
"As a result, I think the work will complete in time," Mahbub said while talking to this correspondent.
