JAMALPUR, Jul 1 (BSS): Two bridges over Brahmaputra river are being constructed under a project aimed at upgrading the rural road communication network of Jamalpur district.
Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) is implementing the project at a cost of over Taka 2.04 billion at Piling Ghat area and Dapholapara Ghat under Islampur upazila.
The LGED office sources said 35 percent work of the two bridges has been completed so far and the rest work would be finished by March 2016.
After completion of the bridges people of 6 remote unions of Islampur upazila will come under direct road communication network with Jamalpur and Sherpur districts.
Beside, the people of Melandaha upazila of the Jamalpur district will also be benefited from the project, the sources said.
Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the two bridges on Brahmaputra river last year.
