Container vessel being constructed in Khulna shipyard

KHULNA, Oct 26: Building container vessel in Khulna Shipyard will add a new dimension to the national economy, said the Shipping Minister Shahajahan Khan while he was addressing as chief guest the inaugural function of the construction work of a container vessel at Khulna Shipyard on Friday. He also said that the Khulna Shipyard is playing an important role in the national economy and it proved as a profitable organisation.   

The inaugural function was attended among others by lawmaker of constituency Khulna-2 Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Khulna City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Assistant Naval Chief (Material) Rear Admiral R U Ahmed, and Chairman of BIWTC Mizanur Rahman as special guest.

The inaugural function announced that two container vessels would be build at a cost of Tk. 750 million with a capacity of 158 TEU and in length 76 meter, width 15 meter, depth 8 meter and draft 4 meter and its speed will be 10 nautical mile.
