Corona infects none of 1,886 newspaper hawkers in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 18: Despite newspaper hawkers are distributing newspapers in greater Chattogram everyday, none of them have been affected by Covid-19 so far.

There are 1,080 listed newspaper hawkers who are the members of Chattogram Newspaper Hawkers' Union, Chattogram Newspaper Hawkers' Samity and Chattogram Hawkers' League.

Besides, there are 806 newspaper hawkers distributing newspapers in Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban hill districts.

The agents and hawkers' leaders informed that no newspaper hawkers suffered from Covid-19 so far in greater Chattogram.

Only 19 hawkers in Chattogram, 23 in Khagrachari, 17 in Bandarban and 03 in Cox's Bazar district suffered from fever. All of them, however, got negative coronavirus results.

President of Chattogram Newspaper Hawkers' League Mohammed Sarwar Alam said, "We are distributing masks and hand sanitizers to the hawkers on regular basis."

President of Chattogram Newspaper Hawkers' Samity Mohammed Yousuf said, "Our hawkers are distributing newspapers regularly. None of our hawkers have been affected by coronavirus."

Newspaper Agent Mohammed Najrul said, "The newspaper hawkers are strictly following the health rules while distributing newspapers in Chattogram. There is no corona affected patient among the newspaper hawkers in Chattogram."

Mohammed Motaleb, a newspaper hawker said, "We are distributing newspapers to offices and houses in Chattogram following the health rules. That newspapers can spread corona is a rumour only. We all are still safe from coronavirus in Chattogram."

Professor Dr Sultanul Alam, a public health expert said, "Newspapers cannot spread corona. So, hawkers are safe from the virus in Chattogram."
