Couple suffer burn injuries in acid attack

COMILLA, July 14 (UNB): A man and his wife received serious burn injuries as miscreants threw acid on them at Bhiti Basania village in Homna upazila early Tuesday.

The injured were identified as Parimal Chakraborty (40), a gold trader and his wife Bishnu Chakrabartty (32), of the village.

Local people said some unidentified miscreants stormed Parimal's house breaking open the window and hurled acid on them around 1:30am when both were asleep.

The injured were rushed to Homna Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Homna Police Station, confirmed the incident.

The motive behind the incident could not be known immediately.
