Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria districts on Wednesday and Tuesday night, report agencies

bdnews24.com reports from Chattogram, two schoolgirls have died and another injured after they were hit by a jeep in Chattogram's Fatikchhari Upazila.

The accident took place on Chattogram-Khagrachhari Road near Paindong C&B Field at 1 pm on Wednesday.

The deceased identified as Mishu Akter and Nisha Moni were students of Paindong High School.

"The girls were injured by a paddy-laden jeep as they were crossing the road. A doctor declared two of them dead after they were taken to a local hospital," said Inspector Md Shamsuddin of Fatikchhari Police Station.

Agitated locals set fire to the motorcycle of a traffic sergeant following the accident, Inspector Shamsuddin said, adding that additional police have been deployed in the area.

Locals said that some police officials were at the Paindong C&B intersection on Chattogram-Khagrachhari Road when one of them signalled a paddy-laden vehicle to stop.

But the driver ignored the signal and attempted to 'run' and hit three schoolgirls, they added.

UNB from Brahmanbaria says, a 35-year-old Baul singer was killed and three others were injured when a speeding truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling on the Cumilla-Sylhet highway on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Jamal Hossain, a resident of Dhaka's Kachukhet area. The injured have been identified as Muhammad Alamin, 37, Yeasmin Mia, 28, and auto driver Siddique Mia, 45.

The accident occurred on the highway in the Urshiura area of the district's Sadar upazila around 8.30pm. "The truck hit the auto at a high speed, leaving all its four occupants injured," said Shahjalal Alam, officer-in-charge of Khatihata Highway Police camp.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, where Jamal was declared dead on arrival.
