Cultivation of Aman begins in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Aug 6 (BSS): Cultivation of T-Aman paddy has began in all the six upazilas of the district during the current season.
Due to favourable climate condition and sufficient rain fall farmers of the district are now working round the clock in their fields for transplanting T-Aman seedlings expecting a bumper production of the paddy.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said a total 39,111 hectares of land would be brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation here this season. Of the total, 31,754 hectares will be brought under high yielding variety of the paddy and 7,357 hectares are under local variety.
Suvash Chandra Gayan, Deputy Director, Department of Agricultural Extension Narsingdi told BSS that there is no shortage of T-Aman seedling in the district. He said if there is no climate hazard 98,504 tonnes of T-Aman rice are expecting to be produced.
The Deputy Director said the local DAE provided the farmers with logistic support including seeds, fertilizers and necessary equipment. BADC distributed 420 tonnes of high yielding varieties of T-Aman seeds among the farmers of the district.
