JHENIDAH, Apr 8: Comprehensive Village Development Program (CVDP), one of the model programmes of RDA, Bogra, under the Ministry of LGRD&C, is providing digital services in rural areas, especially to the marginal farmers of 75 villages under Sadar upazila in Jhenidah.

CVDP is making video CDs of different training programmes on fish cultivation, honeycombing, flower growing, activities of successful cooperative societies and environment-friendly Chula etc. and showing them to the members of CVDCS.

Development activities of CVDP and different consciousness-raising programmes of the government are being shown through the projector in association with the Union Parishads' digital centres in the village-level joint meetings.

Farmers are shown the production formula of vermin-compost fertiliser through video CD, and they are being motivated to use it in lieu of harmful chemical fertiliser for boosting yielding.

CVDP has also taken initiative to establish solar deep tube-wells to facilitate irrigation of the farmers of the CVDCS. A number of rural women are now enjoying urban facilities at homes as electricity supply has been conducted through bio-gas plant. Villagers are paying electricity bills sitting in their houses through Teletalk SIM in cooperative-level.

Besides, members of the CVDCS are running mobile banking activities in the remote villages.

75 village development workers are advertising the information services of the union parishads among the common people. People are taking different services; including raising records of rights going to the information centres.

These services were displayed in the recently held Digital Innovation Fair - 2015 organised by Sadar upazila administration and got a widespread response from the visitors. Assistant project director, CVDP, Sadar, Jhenidah told the FE that a plan has been taken for facilitating sharing of views among the villagers and upazila, district and ministry-level high officials through video-conferencing in village-level joint meetings from next month.
