DAE expects 2.01m tonnes of T-Aman rice output in Rajshahi Division

NATORE, Sept 18: Due to favourable weather and timely supply of necessary agri-inputs, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is expecting the production of some 20,14,050 tonnes of T-Aman rice output in the eight districts of Rajshahi division this season.

Meanwhile the farmers of the Barind tract have brought over 48,155 hectares under T-Aman paddy cultivation.

DAE has estimated a total 10, 42,210 tonnes rice production in Bogura agri-zone from 3,80,005 hectares of land. They have made a target of bringing some 3,71,183 hectares of land under T-Aman paddy cultivation this season.

Getting repeated abundant production, they have brought some 8,822 hectares of land as surplus this T-Aman season. To get a good output, they have used the double transplanting method across the region.

According to DAE official sources, a total 1,82,250 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 1,73,485 hectares of target to produce 4,85,580 tonnes of rice production in Bogura district.

Besides, some 73,160 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation this season against 75,770 hectares of target to produce 2,17,458 tonnes of fresh rice output in Joypurhat district.

On the other hand, a total 55,350 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 55,342 hectares of target to produce 1,56,568 tonnes of rice yield in Pabna district.

A total 69,245 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 66,585 hectares of target to produce 1, 82,604 tonnes of paddy production in Sirajganj district.

DAE has also estimated the rice production at 9,71,840 tonnes in Rajshahi agri-zone from 3, and 92,750 hectares of land. They have made a target of bringing some 3, 53,418 hectares of land under T-Aman paddy cultivation this season.

A total 76,255 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 74,981 hectares of target to produce 2,10,271 tonnes of rice production in Rajshahi district.

Some 1,93,925 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 1, 67,456 hectares of target to produce 4,51,278 tonnes of rice production in Naogaon district.

A total 69,290 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 59,820 hectares of target to produce 1,69,262 tonnes of rice production in Natore district.

A total 53,280 hectares of land have already brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation against 51,161 hectares of target to produce 1,41,028 tonnes of rice production in Chapainawabganj district.

A number of farmers said they had cultivated Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA)-7, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) dhan-49, BRRI dhan-34, Bangladesh Rice (BR)-11, Jirashail, Shorna and Miniket as they demand of the rice is large across the country.

The poor and marginal farmers had suffered much due to the poor price of the paddy variety, said farmer Hafizar Rahman under Chapainawabganj district. If the price of the paddy is satisfactory, the farmer would be happy, he added.

"We are monitoring round the clock the T-Aman paddy fields to boost the output this season," deputy director of Natore Rafiqul Islam added.
