DAE offers incentive to Magura Aus growers

MAGURA, May 5: Magura Aus growers are now busy farming as Agriculture Extension Department (DAE) Magura is extending support to the Aus growers with incentive.

DAE Magura sources informed, they have taken a scheme to bring 6952 hectares of land under Aus cultivation in the district this season with an output target of 17380 tonnes rice.

A total of 2350 Aus farmers in the district will get incentive. Among them, 1500 are cultivating Ufshi Aus while 850 Nerica Aus. Every Ufshi Aus farmer will get five kg seeds, 20 kg urea, 10 kg DAP, 10 kg MOP and cash money of Tk 400 for irrigation.

On the other hand, every Nerica farmer will get 10 kg seed, 20 kg urea, 10 km DAP, 10 kg MOP, Tk 400 for irrigating and Tk 400 for weeding.

When contacted Taleb Shekh, an Aus farmer in village Akshi under Magura Sadar upazila said, "We are now waiting for incentives for Aus cultivation. Such incentive is helpful and encouraging for us. Incentive will make Aus cultivation easier for the farmers."

Magura DAE official Subrata Chakraborti said, "We are going to give the Aus farmers incentive. Day-by-day amount of incentive for Aus farmers is increasing as we are getting good return in this regard.
