SYLHET, Jan 3: Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for environment, forest and climate change; water resources: and information and broadcasting, has called upon all to beat the defeated forces through united strength in the upcoming national election.
The defeated forces are still active in the country against the forces of uprising. But they are far behind," she said.
Rizwana Hasan was addressing as the chief guest the inaugural session of a two-day training programme for journalists on Election Reporting at the Sylhet Press Club here today.
Information secretary Mahbuba Farzana, Sylhet deputy commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam and the press club's president, Muktabis un Noor, also addressed the event moderated by the press club's secretary, Md. Serajul Islam. Fifty journalists are taking part in the training programme.
Rizwana Hasan also called upon the people of all walks of life to vote in the referendum on national reforms and other issues in the Jatiya Sangsad election of 12 February.
The interim government is keen to hold the long-desired polls braving all odds as the whole nation is waiting for it, she added.
"All forces
should help hold the elections in a free and fair manner as we didn't see any participatory polls in the recent past," she continued.
The attacks on the Prothom Alo and Daily Star offices were also incidents carried out by the defeated forces, she noted calling the journalists to
write objectively and positively.
Chairing the event, PIB Director General Faruque Wasif said, "We are starting a countrywide training programme on election reporting from Sylhet today."
"Such special training on election reporting in all the districts would help the media cover the upcoming JS polls and various related issues."
Later Rizwana Hasan addressed the convocation of Leading University, a private university in Sylhet's Kamalbazar.
