Disabled are an integral part of society: Wadud

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 1: Lawmaker of Chapainawabganj sadar constituency Md Abdul Wadud said disabled people are an integral part of the society. It is not possible to reach the goal of development leaving them aside and so the Prime Minister has formed a law for the development of the disabled.

He said this while speaking as chief guest at the Chapainawabganj District Disabled's Convention-2014 held at Shahid Satu Hall in Chapainawabganj town on Friday.

He also committed to donate three sewing machines and three wheel chairs to the registered samitees of the disabled people.

Deputy Commissioner of Chapainaw-abganj Mohammad Jahangeer Kabir spoke at the convention as special guest.  He said the disabled are not the liability to the society. They are the sons of the soil. We will work for the law that was passed in 2013. We will make arrangements for a raise in their allowance and other facilities.

Another special guest, principal of the Nawabganj Government College Professor Sultana Razia said, besides disability by birth, many people are being disabled due to accidents and natural disasters and have been leading miserable life.

The convention was jointly arranged by non-government organisations Action on Disability and Development (ADD) International Bangladesh, National Grassroot Disability Organization (NGDO) and Chapainawabganj Zila Choukos Protibondhi Sangstha in association with European Union and CAFOD.
