Doped by frauds, rice trader dies in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Jan 17 (UNB): A rice trader, whom a gang of frauds made unconscious by applying sedative to snatch his belongings, died at Satkhira sadar hospital here on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Debashish Kumar Sardar, 45, a rice trader and son of Kartik Chandra Sardar of Ramerdanga village in sadar upazila.
Lutfar Rahman, former chairman of Agardari union, said miscreants heavily sedated Debashish and looted Tk48,000 from him while he was going to Satkhira in the afternoon.
Locals rescued him and sent him to Shakhipur hospital from where he was later shifted to sadar hospital where he died around 7:30 am.
Golam Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident.
