NILPHAMARI, Aug 6: Cultivation of T-Aman is being obstructed due to non availability of water in the farmland as drought like situation is prevailing in the district.
Already transplanted Aman seedlings are dying due to drying up of the farmland where cracks have already developed. A drought like situation is prevailing for the entire month of Shraban.
Some farmers are trying to utilise deep and shallow tubewells to irrigate their farmland but the initiative also suffers setback as the temporary earthen canals for supplying water used during the Boro season has already dismantled as usual.
DAE sources said this year's target of Aman cultivation in the district is in 106814 hectares of land to produce 291474 metric tonnes of paddy.
