SYLHET, Feb 27 (UNB): A drug addicted man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat at Sultanpur village in Goainghat upazila early Thursday.
The victim identified as Rasheda Begum, wife of Jamal Ahmad, a resident of the village, was mother of three children.
Police, quoting family members, said Jamal has been addicted to drugs for long and he often used to torture Rasheda over family affairs.
On Wednesday night, they picked up a quarrel over a family feud and Jamal beat up Rasheda.
He slit the throat of Rasheda at about 2:00 am when she was asleep, leaving her dead on the spot.
In the morning, he made an attempt to conceal the body. Smelling a rat, neighbours caught Jamal after a hot chase and handed him over to police.
