Drug addict kills handicapped man in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, May 31 (UNB): A physically-challenged man was hacked to death allegedly by a drug addicted youth on Friday night.
The victim was identified as Abdul Khaleque, 50, son of Ahmed Ali of Dakkhin Sanyasi village in Rampal upazila. Khaleque used to earn his livelihood through begging alms.
Officer-in-charge of Rampal Police Station Kazi Daud Hossain said Zahid Sheikh, 28, a drug addicted son of Mokammel Sheikh, entered the house of Khaleque around 8 pm and started hacking him indiscriminately with a sharp machete, leaving him critically injured.
As Khaleque's son Surya rushed in hearing the screams of his father, Zahid fled the scene.
