NILPHAMARI, Oct 16: Harvesting of early variety paddy started in Nilphamari district. Farmer's are now harvesting such verities like Shakti, Gold, ACI, Sonar Bangla, Aloron, Gajaron, Bina-7, BR Dhan-52, Norica and so on. Now harvested paddy started to come in the markets across the district.
Farmers sources said production of early variety paddy in this season is more than 100 maunds (40 kg) per acre.
Sources added this early variety paddy has gone a long way in eradicating Monga in the region in this lean period of the Bengali month of Ashwin and Kartic.
