Early winter radish farming starts

NILPHAMARI, Sept 29: Cultivation of early winter radish has started in the district.
Sources said radish grows well in high land. Cultivators show their interest to grow the vegetable this season for more profit.
After preparing the land, radish seeds are sprinkled and it becomes harvestable within two months.
Sources said radish requires low production cost. It needs one time weeding and does not need irrigation.
Moreover, cultivators usually get a good production of the item.
Nearly 100 maunds of radish can be produced in a bigha (30 decimal) of land.
Farmer Abdur Rahman of Itakhola union under Sadar upazila said he is preparing one bigha of land for starting radish cultivation.
He expressed the hope that he will get some 80 maunds of radish.
The grower further said he expects to earn some Tk 0.1 million from the sale of the produce this year.
