NILPHAMARI, Oct 22: Varieties of early winter vegetables have started appearing in the local markets of the district.
Radish, bean, brinjal, cauliflower, cabbage, bitter gourd, ladies finger, carrot and other vegetables are now available in the markets.
However, the vegetables are being sold at a higher price due to inadequate supply.
Sources said it may take a month for the prices of the vegetable will decline.
Farmers in the district cultivate early winter vegetable for good profit every year. They start cultivation at the beginning of the month of August.
At present per kg brinjal is being sold at Tk 30 per kg, cabbage at Tk 40 per kg, bean at Tk 70 per kg, radish at Tk 30 per kg, bottle gourd at Tk 25 per piece.
The Department of Agriculture Extension office sources said the district is self-sufficient in producing vegetables.
