NILPHAMARI, Mar 14: To combat insects in the Boro plants, the farmers of Nilphamari district are resorting to eco-friendly light trap and parching devise for killing insects.
Eco -friendly light trap and parching kill the harmful insects like Brown Plant Hopper (BPH) and it is an alternative to pesticide.
Sources said it is a trap used at night with kerosene lamp, charger light or electric bulb and it needed to place a pot with detergent or Kerosene mixed with water under the light. This light attracts the insects and dies after falling into the pot.
Shamsul Haque, an official of DAE Nilphamari said the method is being popular in all the sixty union parishads (UP) of six upazilas of the district. A farmer Asaduzzaman of Bhogdaburi UP of Domar upazila said he is applying the method and found it useful.
