RANGPUR, Jun 12 (BSS): Speakers at the concluding ceremony of a training course today stressed for an effective value chain system to benefit both the producers and consumers by ensuring fair price of the locally produced dairy and handicraft products.
An effective value chain system by linking the producers and traders properly under one umbrella would definitely minimize interference of the middlemen in the whole process of marketing of the locally produced products brining benefits to all, they said.
Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organized the three-day training course on 'Value Chain Management Training for Producer Group' at its Eluari Assistance Centre under Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur since last Tuesday.
The course was aranaged for providing knowledge and concept of the value chain approach to the producers in identifying the issues to create the realistic scopes for accelerating socio-economic development of the local small-scale entrepreneurs.
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Fulbari ADP of the NGO Shariful Islam addressed the ceremony as the chief guest with its Programme Manager of Fulbari ADP Badal Sangma in the chair.
Agriculture Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Arbindu Roy and its Programme Officers Pallobi Murmu and Badal Nongmin spoke as special guests.
Twenty-five local small-scale and unemployed female entrepreneurs of different areas under Eluari union of Fulbari upazila in Dinajpur participated in the training course that ended this afternoon.
The speakers said an effective value chain system could benefit the consumers, producers as well and traders involved with the whole process of producing and marketing local products like milk, handicrafts and handloom goods like 'nakshi kantha'.
Due to interference of the middlemen at various stages of business communication between consumers and producers, the producers generally get minimum benefits and consumers spend maximum money in purchasing the local products, they said.
Creation of an effective linkage or association of the producers and traders using the value chain system can reduce interference of the middlemen to ensure direct sale of products to the traders to enable them in selling directly to the big consumers, they said.
In his speech, the chief guest put emphasis on establishing effective value chain system to ensure fair price of the locally produced products for the producers through marketing their products in reaching those to the consumers in a hassle-free manner.
