Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in districts

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festivity of the Muslims, was celebrated in the districts on Saturday, report agencies.

In Rangpur, The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at the Central Collectorate Eidgah Maidan at 8:30 am with participation of around 30,000 devotees, including high officials, political leaders and dignitaries of the city.

Judge of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Abu Taher Md. Saifur Rahman, Divisional Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa with high officials participated in the main Eid congregation.

Like the previous years, the two biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregations of the district were held at Damodarpur Baro Eidgah Maidan and Taluk Habu Eidgah Maidan.

The devotees of all ages, attired in traditional Eid dresses, participated in the congregations held at different Eidgahs, mosques and grounds in the city, all eight upazilas and three municipalities across the district.

In Rangpur city, major Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque, Sadar Hospital Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Alamnagar Waqf Mosque, Satmatha Jam-e- Mosque and Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other palaces' between 7:45 am and 9:30 am.

In Rajshahi, the main jamaat (congregation) of Eid-ul-Fitr was held on Shah Makhdum Central Eidgah Maidan at 8.00 am.

Muhtamim of Jameya Islamia Shahmukhdum Maulana Shahadat Ali conducted the prayers.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and senior officials of divisional and district levels, including Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner GSM Jafarullah and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed, offered their Eid prayers at the main Eid jamaat.

The second and third largest ones were held at Tikapara Eidgah and Shaheb Bazar Zero Point at 8 am and 8.30 am respectively.

In Kishoreganj, over 0.5 million (five lakh) Muslims attended the Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat at the Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj at 10 am on Saturday morning.

More than 0.5 million people attended the jamaat at this year's Eid-ul-Fitr, said Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, president of Sholakia Eidgah Management Committee and deputy commissioner of Kishoreganj.

In Dinajpur, over 0.6 million (six lakh) Muslims offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Gor-e-Shaheed Maidan in Dinajpur at 9am.

Maulana Shamsul Islam Qasimi led the Eid jamaat.

Supreme Court Appellate Division Justice Enayetur Rahim and Jatiya Sangsad Whip Iqbalur Rahim, among others, attended the Eid jamaat.

In Khulna, the main Eid jamaat was held at Circuit House ground at 8 am. Maulana Mohammad Saleh, Khatib of Town Jame Mosque, led the congregation.

Eid jamaats were held at Model Mosque adjacent to Khulna Alia Madrasa at 8:30 am and at Khulna Town Jame Mosque at 9 am.

Like every Eid, thousands of Muslims thronged to participate in the main jamaat. Strict security measures were taken at the Eidgah.

In Sylhet, the main Eid jamaat was held at Shahi Eidgah ground at 8:30 am. Maulana Abu Huraira, Imam and Khatib of Bandarbazar Central Jame Mosque, led the prayers.

Prayers were offered seeking peace and prosperity for people of the country.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Awami League mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, leaders of different political parties, administration officials, businessmen and industrialists and common people from different parts of the city offered prayers at the Shahi Eidgah ground in Sylhet.

In Barishal, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with due religious fervour. The main Eid congregation was held at Hemayet Uddin Central Eidgah in the city at 8:30 am.

Political leaders and administration high-ups as well as people from different walks of life attended the jamaat there.
