GOPALGANJ, July 20: Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslim community was celebrated in Gopalganj in a befitting manner Saturday.
The main Eid congregation was held at local Poura Eidgah Maidan, of Gopalganj town.
Mufti Maulana Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, Imam of Court Masjid Jame Mosque of Gopalganj town conducted the prayer at 8:30am. The second Eid congregation was held at S.K. Alia Madrasha Mosque of the town at 9:00am conducted by Maulana Mohammad Jalal Uddin, Principal of S.K. Alia Madrasha Mosque and the third Eid congregation was held at Police Line Ground conducted by Hafez Imam Abdur Rashid, Imam of Police Line Mosque.
And other Eid congregations were held at local Thanapara Mosque of Gopalganj town, Begram Hazibari Jame Mosque, Golabari Eidgah Maidan, Sonakur Eidgah Maidan, Fakirkandi Eidgah Maidan and Gatepara Jame Mosque.
Our correspondent from Nilphamari adds: Holy Eid-ul-Fitr was observed in Nilphamari district with due solemnity. Eid congregations were held across the district where the devotees performed their Eid prayers.
In Nilphamari municipality the main congregation was held at the central Eidgah Maidan where thousands of Muslim community attended to perform the prayer. The Imam prayed for peace and prosperity for everybody and eternal peace for the departed souls.
During the one month long fasting, from dawn to dusk, the performers of Siam (Roja) took breakfast with sweetmeat and so on in the Eid day morning. There were no untoward incident in the day and the law and order situation was peaceful.
