Eight-day book fair starts in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Apr 06 (BSS): An eight-day Rangpur Book Fair-2019 began on Public Library ground in the city on Friday.
The district administration, with the assistance of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Jatiya Granthokendra, is organising the book fair.
Seventy-three stalls have been set up by book publishing houses of the capital city, district administration, Shishu Academy, local writers, poets, literary organisations and personalities.
Director (Joint Secretary) of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md Shawkat Ali inaugurated the fair as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair.
Additional Police Superintendent Maruf Hossain, President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, literary personalities Professor Shah Alam and Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu, among others, spoke.
Deputy Director (Local Government) and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Ruhul Amin Mian in his welcome speech narrated the goals of arranging the fair.
The fair will remain open for all from 3.00 pm to 9.00 pm daily. Competition on recitation of poems and self-composed poems and quizzes are being arranged, followed by colourful cultural evenings daily.
