Elderly woman stabbed to death in Khulna

KHULNA, May 29 (BSS): An elderly woman was stabbed to death in the city early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Labonnyo Prova Chutar, 80, wife of Chitta Ranjan Chutar, of 224, Dilkhola road in the city.

Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Kotwali Police Station Sukumar Biswas told BSS miscreants entered the house of Chitta Chutar breaking open a window and stabbed Labonnyo, leaving her with serious injuries. She was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared her dead.

Chhitta Ranjan Chhutar, who is paralyzed, told BSS that three miscreants entered the room when they were in sleep.

On her wife's screaming, he saw two of the miscreants clasped her wife and the other one stabbing on her abdomen.

The miscreants also confined his younger sister-in-law along with her daughter in the adjacent room, he added.

The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) for autopsy, police officer said adding that the motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.
