Encouraging people to pay income tax underscored

GAIBANDHA, Sept 17: Speakers in a function here today underscored the need for encouraging the people to pay income tax spontaneously to strengthen the national economy to push forward the country towards desired development.

"If the solvent people deposit tax return properly, revenue income of the country would increase undoubtedly, resulting the government will be able to expedite the implementation of the development work for the welfare of the people", they said.

They made the comments while addressing an inaugural session of four- day long Income Tax Fair-2015 organised by deputy commissioner of taxes, circle-19, Gaibandha on the office premises of deputy commissioner of taxes of the town here on Thursday.

Whip of the Bangladesh Parliament and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed the function as the chief guest and deputy commissioner Abdus Samad, Police super Ashraful Islam, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Shamsul Alam, and general secretary of district Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique were present as the special guests.

With commissioner of taxes, tax region Bogra Abdul Mazid in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others by assistant commissioner of taxes here Mohammad Ali and Abdul Latif Hakkani.

The speakers also emphasised the need for creating much awareness among the people particularly the solvent ones to bring them under income tax network to turn Bangladesh into middle income country before 2021 and developed one before 2041.

Later, the two long-term taxpayers-Shushil Kumar Chowdhury and Ayan Uddin and three best tax payers-Abdul Latif Hakkani, Saidur Rahman Babu and Khademul Islam Jewel were given reception and awards at the event.

Assistant commissioner of taxes here Mohammad Ali said the taxpayers would be able to submit tax return, pay online tax and obtain taxpayers identification number (TIN).     sarker.fe.gai1971@gmail.com
