RAJSHAHI, Dec 13 (BSS): Ensuring proper education for the ethnic people living in plain land has become indispensable for their substantial and sustainable socio-economic development and empowerment, discussants said here today.
They viewed that elevation of living and livelihood condition of the underprivileged groups isn't possible without proper and time-befitting education.
The observation came at a discussion "Education and Socio-economic Development of Ethnic People" held at Master Chef Restaurant in Rajshahi City, where large number of ethnic people both male and female from different areas of the region attended.
Shaw-Unnayan and Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) jointly organized the discussion with UKAID.
Additional Deputy Director (Education, Development and ICT) and Deputy Director of Department of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Shormin Ferdous Chowdhury addressed the discussion as the chief and special guest respectively with Mustafizur Rahman, President of Shaw-Unnayan, in the chair.
Deputy Director of Divisional Ethnic Minority Cultural Academy Shamim Akhter, Police Inspector Abul Hashem, CAMPE Deputy Programme Manager Rajoshry Gayen and Dr Adil Hassan, Associate Professor of Anthropology Department of Rajshahi University, also spoke.
