NETRAKONA, July 26 (BSS): An extensive Aman cultivation programme has been taken up in all the ten upazilas of the district during the current season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has set a plan to bring a total of 1,39,731 hectares of land under T-Aman cultivation in ten upazilas of the district with the production target of 3,37,737 tonnes of rice. Of the total land, 1,00,194 hectares would be brought under high yielding variety (HYV) of paddy and 39,537 hectares under local variety.
Meanwhile, farmers are passing busy days preparing Aman seed-beds side by side making their crop-fields suitable for the T-Aman cultivation.
Deputy Director of DAE Samir Kumar Sarker said the field-workers and crop specialists of the DAE have started rendering their field-level service to make the farmers familiar with the modern methods of cultivation and achieving higher yield of the crop by reducing production costs.
To make the cultivation a grand success, necessary measures have been taken to supply fertilizers, insecticides, electricity and other agri-inputs to the farmers at a fair price, DAE sources said.
