Extensive \\\'mug\\\' farming plan taken in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, July 3 (BSS): The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken an extensive programme for cultivation of mug pulse in four upazilas of the district during the current season.

Under the programme, a total of 3,810 hectares of land have been brought under mug pulse cultivation in the district with a production target of 5,715 tonnes of mug.

DAE sources said upazila wise break up of land brought under mug cultivation is as follows: 1,450 hectares in Sadar upazila, 60 hectares in Alamdanga, 350 hectares in Damurhuda and 2,150 hectares in Jibannagar upazila.

Necessary steps have been taken to ensure supply of adequate quantity of improved quality seeds, fertilizers, insecticides and other agri-inputs among the growers in fair prices for making the programme successful, DAE office sources said.
