Extensive vegetables farming programme on in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Mar 22 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Narsingdi has taken a programme to cultivate 6,815 hectares of land under Summer vegetables cultivation in the district this year.

Farmers in six upazilas of the district have already started the cultivation. They have grown various kinds of vegetable seedlings such as Pumpkin, Cucumber, Kakral, Korella, Kaida, Jingha, Lady's finger and Brinjal.

Farmers are found busy in their vegetables fields in Shibpur, Belabo and Raipura Upazilas, the main vegetables productive areas, of the district with great enthusiasm.

Talking to BSS farmers in different areas said they are expecting a satisfactory yield of vegetables this year. Women and school students are also found busy nursing their homestead vegetable gardens.

Deputy Director Department of Agriculture Extension Narsingdi Muksed Ali said BSS that necessary measures have been taken to supply of high yielding varieties of seeds, fertilizers, insecticides, and other necessary inputs to the farmers.

Besides different commercial Banks including Bangladesh Krishi Bank are providing short-term loan to the farmers of the district for the cultivation.
