Families demand proper probe into lynching incident in Pabna

PABNA, Aug 26: Business enmity or money dispute might be the reason behind the murder of three middle aged people in Santhia market spreading false rumour of child abduction according to police.

Investigation is going on to find out the real culprits, police said, while the family member of the victims claimed the victims came here for business purpose but beaten dead by mob over a false rumour.

Earlier, the angry mob beat the three people to death on suspicion of kidnapping children in C&B Chotur Bazar area of Santhia upazila under the district around 12:45pm after the trio were dragged out of a bus and beaten to death in broad daylight in front of a local market.

The victims Alauddin Hossain alias Alal member, 52, of village Lokhmipur Kholapara in Natore, Abu Bakar, 48, of village Kanchan-Koloni in Bogra and Aslam Hossain, 50, of village Poshchim Shibrampur in Dinajpur Kotwali thana were relatives, the traders sources said.

Officer in charge of Santhia police station Shahed Mahamud said Alauddin's brother Rana filed a case accusing 2 to 3 thousand unidentified men.

In the case statement the complainant alleged that the trio came here for business purpose by bus but they were beaten dead on spreading rumor of child abduction, the OC said.

"In our primary inquiry, it is clear that the victims were not the real kidnappers. They came here for business purpose," the OC said.
