Farmers happy over brinjal production in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Nov 29 (BSS):  Farmers of different upazilas of Panchagarh district are happy as they are making good profit by cultivating brinjal in the current season.
Tariqul Islam of Sobuspara village under Debiganj upazila of the district told BSS that he brought one bigha of land under cultivation of Brinjal this season and earned Taka 20,000.
He is expecting more dividends during the remaining part of the season.
Many farmers of the upazila and other parts of the district have become able to overcome the curse of poverty by growing different varieties of vegetables including eggplants, he added.
Another farmer Mokbul Hossain of Tapriganj village under Debiganj upazila said he cultivated brinjal on 30 decimal of his land but he does not use any insecticide to produce brinjal and other vegetables. He said, they use pheromone trap which help vegetables remain healthy, tasty and nutritious.
According to DAE officials sources cultivation of eggplant has increased in recent times in the district, as it has become more lucrative than the cultivation of other crops.
