Farmers poised for a bumper Aus yield in Tangail

TANGAIL, Apr 20: The farmers and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Tangail are expecting a bumper Aus production in Tangail this season.
According to DAE Tangail sources, farmers of the district completed the Aus cultivation successfully. This year the cultivation target was in the district on 1328 hectares of land with the production of 1827 metric tonnes of paddy.
Of them Ubshi variety cultivated in 82 hectares of land and local variety in 1246 hectares of land and no hybrid variety cultivated this year.
Farmer Abdus Samad, son of Lal Chan Miah of village Ghunikeshor under Delduar upazila said he has cultivated three acres of his land and now it is found in excellent condition due to favourable climatic condition and he is hopeful of a bumper production.
