GAIBANDHA, Aug 13 (BSS): Agri-experts and scientists at a function here on Monday urged the farmers to expand and popularize the farming of high yielding variety of Aus to ensure country's food security amid adverse impact of climate change.
"As our country is experiencing an abnormal climate change causing grave concern to agriculture and food production, there is no alternative to adopting proper strategies and technologies to farm crops coping with the changed climatic condition", they said.
They made the comments while addressing a field day on high yield variety at Lengar Bazar area under Laxmipur union of Sadar upazila yesterday.
Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), Rangpur and RDRS Bangladesh jointly arranged the function in cooperation with Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) to motivate the farmers to cultivate high yield Aus variety in coming seasons.
Dr. Shajahan Kabir, director of BRRI Gazipur, addressed the function as the chief guest and deputy director of DAE Mir Abdur Razzak and additional deputy director (Plant Protection) Aminul Islam were present as the special guests.
