Father chopped to death by son in Bagerhat

KHULNA, Apr 13: A farmer was chopped to death by his son while he was at pray at 5 am on Monday over a family feud at village Zeodhara under Morrelgonj Thana of Bagerhat district.

The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman Howlader (50) of village Zeodhara under Morelgong thana of the district.  

Police and family source said that Zahaid Hossain (28), son of Habibur Rahman Howlader attacked his father while he was praying at early morning and chopped him with a sharp weapon on his neck. He died on way to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Zahid Hossain fled away after the incident.

Sufia Begum, mother of Zahid Hossain said that his father injured him with a hammer over family feud on Sunday.

Morrelgonj thana officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam admitted the fact and assured that action would be taken to arrest Zahid Hossain.

In another incident a woman was killed in a road accident while she was crossing the road. A speedy truck crushed her and she died on the spot at Gutudia under Dumuria thana of the district on Sunday evening.

She was identified as Purnima Mondal (45), wife of Jayonto Mondal of village Bolabunia under Dumuria thana of the district.
