Female artisans becoming solvent making fancy caps in Bogra

BOGRA, July 13: Hundreds of rural female artisans have achieved self-reliance in Bogra district including 12 upazilas by making fancy caps ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

They are passing busy time now to meet a huge demand of their handicrafts as the biggest festival of Muslim Ummah Eid-ul-Fitr is knocking at the door.

According to the local sources, about 3000 rural housewives, divorcees, unemployed young girls, adolescents, students and widows are now engaged in this profession and 2000 of them have already achieved self-reliance.

The rural females with assistance of different NGOs and government organisations have now adopted this easy profession to change their fortune. These caps are being sold at high price in the country's sophisticated markets, including the capital city.

Chairman of Rural Development Samity Bogra district Rezaul Haque said, "Most of the housewives, school and college going girls belonging to poorer families, have been preparing caps during their off periods in between daily normal activities to earn some additional income sitting at own homes."
