Feni, Tangail road accidents kill five

A total of five people were killed in separate road accidents in Feni and Tangail districts early Monday and Sunday, report agencies.

In Feni, three people were killed in separate road accidents in Feni's Fulgazi and Sadar upazilas early Monday and Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Ear Ahmed, 70, Abdur Rahim, 43, and Halima Begum, 37.

In Fulgazi upazila, two people died as a CNG-run autorickshaw hit a roller machine in the Munshir Haat Bazar area at midnight.

Locals rushed three people to Feni General Hospital where duty doctors declared Ear and Rahim dead, said Abul Hasim, officer-in-charge of Fulgazi police station.

In another accident, a woman was killed and her daughter seriously injured as a speedy bus knocked them down in sadar upazila's Bathania on Dhaka-Chattagram highway.

Locals rushed them to Feni General Hospital. Halima Begum was referred to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), but she died on her way to CMCH.

The body was handed over to her family.

In Tangail, two motorcyclists were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in the Baniapara area on Tangail-Jamalpur highway under Ghatail upazila of the district on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Rashidul Islam Sohel, 25, resident of the Kalimandir area under Gopalpur upazila, and Mamun Hossain, 24, resident of the Khilgati area of Deola Bari union under the Ghatail upazila.

The accident occurred in the area when Rashidul Islam Sohel was returning home in Gopalpur upazila from Ghatail upazila on a motorcycle and collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from opposite direction around 11.30pm, leaving four motorcyclists injured seriously, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghatail Police Station said.
