Field Day for potato held in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Feb 12 (BSS): Field day to develop quality seeds of potato at farmers level was held yesterday in Charmadhabdia union under Sadar upazila of this district.
The field day organized in village Shekher Tek by NGO Proshika with theaim of producing quality seeds for higher yielding at a less cost where about two hundred farmers attended.
The motivational campaign for developing quality potato seeds was jointly initiated by USAID financed International Potato Center and Asian Vegetable Resource Center where the Additional Director of Agriculture Extension department of Faridpur region Md. Khasru Mia was the chief guest chaired by Charmadhabdia Union chairman Tuhin Mondol.
The field day was also addressed by the agriculture officials Shankar Chandra Bhowmic, Harun ar Rashid, USAID Official Dizbor Barui, Potato Research expert Mohidul Hassan Proshika official Jogesh Chandra Barman beneficiary farmers Almas and Sirajul Islam.
The speakers said that with the object of increasing the income of the farmers, nutrition, poverty reduction this project has been taken up to train up about one lakh farmers of this district. Under the project the farmers will be supplied seeds, fertilizer, pesticide and provided training free of cost, the speakers added.
