MAGURA, Mar 04: A field-day on Bina-8 Moshur was observed in Magura Friday afternoon. Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) Magura observed the field-day at village Moghi under Magura sadar upazila.
Mymenshing BINA senior scientific officer Dr Snigdha Roy was the chief guest in the discussion meeting in observance of the day with Magura BINA sub centre scientific officer Shampa Rani Ghosh in the chair.
The speakers informed, BINA-8 Moshur is high productive compared to common variety. Production of BINA-8 Moshur is 8 to10 maund per bigha while 3 to 5 maund in common variety.
Moreover it is a short duration crop.
Bina-8 Moshur takes 95 to 100 days to be harvested while 115 to 120 days in common variety .
Rust and blight are 2 common diseases of Moshur .But BINA- 8 Moshur is less vulnerable to rust and blight diseases. More than one hundred farmers attended the field day.
