Fifteen injured in clash during Shitalakshya cruise

NARAYANGANJ, Feb 22 (UNB): At least 15 people were injured in a clash between two groups of people on a cruise over a trifling matter in the Shitalakshya River in Narayanganj on Friday.

Witnesses said several groups of youths from Paikpara, Namapara and other areas of Narayanganj city on a launch went on a cruise in the river in the morning.

When the cruiser was returning to Narayanganj port after ending the trip up to Chandpur, an altercation ensued between two groups as some youths allegedly bumped against a woman at about 9:00 pm while they were performing songs. Later when the launch berthed at Nitaiganj in the city both the groups attacked each other, leaving 15 people injured on both sides.
